The girls on the bride’s side (Erin/Sandra/Angela/Cammy) will be wearing it in cherry, while the girls on the groom’s side (Denise/Laura/Amy) will be wearing it in black.

A note to those living here in DFW: Dresses need to be ordered at least 3 months prior to the date they are needed by. In this case, they are needed by January 16, 2010, so they will need to be ordered AT THE LATEST by October 16, 2009, though I would advise going to the AA store sooner than that to be safe. (I’d say your best bet is to try and go by the end of Sept. at the latest.)

Meanwhile, to those living out of state, remember that different stores could have different ordering times. Just because the one here in FW says 3 months, it might be more or less if you order somewhere else (i.e. Chicago, San Francisco, etc.), so I would call them fairly soon and find out the specific time frame your local AA retailer works under.

As far as shoes go, you can wear anything you want as long as it matches the dress and looks nice. It can be high heels or flats, whichever suits you. Just keep in mind that there are stairs at the venue. This is especially important to the bridesmaids and matron of honor, as they will have to walk down them in the processional, though everyone will have to go up and down them a few times throughout the night, I’d imagine.

And as for makeup, manicures, pedicures… you can do it yourself or pay for it or whatever. I know at least some of us will be DIYing those things, while others might not, so it’s totally up to you.

Mengmeng and I will be buying everyone matching wraps and jewelry and paying for hairstyles.

In other news, we have an officiant, centerpieces, wedding favors, and last, but certainly not least, I have MY dress! Yay! \o/

Well, wedding plans have been mostly put on hold for the last few months (other than getting the cakes and the invitations, we haven’t done anything, yikes!) because Mengmeng and I were looking at houses.  We finally found our dream house, and we bought it last week!  So you know what time it is… picture time!

We’re going to paint a few of the rooms (dining, bath, guest bed), so not all the room colors will be staying the same, but these pictures should still give you a pretty good idea of what it’s like. 

Well, we went with The Cake Guys after all.  So we have both cakes ordered!  Mine is white with little red blossoms on it, 4 tiers (one will be fake, though), and his is going to be Serenity themed.  Yay!

Meanwhile, we’ve ordered the invitations. There are a few things on them left to finalize (for instance, they print your return address on the back of the envelopes, but we want to close on the house before we give them the go ahead), but the hard work’s done.  Well, until we get them and have to fix them all and mail them, lol!

The wedding venue will be the historic YWCA building and the date will be January 16th, 2010.  Mark your calendars!  \o/

And here, as promised, are the pictures of the upstairs room where the reception will be held if we choose the YWCA as our venue.  All the tables and chairs you see in the pictures are provided with the facility rental, but we have to provide our own table linens and other decorations.

We visted the YWCA and really liked it.  We have our date saved for a week (for free!) while we think it over, but come next Sunday we will have to make our official decision.  So exciting!  (And also scary!)
